Violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg's acclaimed EMI Classics recording of Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Opus 99 will be re-issued in honor of the composer's upcoming birthday centenery in 2006....along with Barber's Violin Concerto, Op.14.
On May 10th, 2005, EMI Classics re-issued Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg's 1992 recording of Dmitri Shostakovich's violin concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra in honor of the upcoming 100th anniversary (September 25th, 2006) of the composer's birth. Conducted by the composer's son, Maxim Shostakovich, the CD also features Barber's violin concerto. Miss Salerno-Sonnenberg will perform both the Shostakovich and the Barber violin concerto's throughout the summer and 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg recently taped a selection of poems and text
excerpts from classic writers for The Romantic Hours, a national radio
program of romantic music hosted by pianist Mona Golabek. Syndicated on
stations across the country, the program is a combination of music and
readings by important musicians of today.
Nadja's program, for which she personally selected some of her favorite
writings, including works by Kahlil Gibran, Dorothy Parker, Edna St. Vincent
Millay, Seamus Heamey and Percy Bysshe Shelly, as well as a beautiful poem
by her mother entitled Alterations, will air on April 15, 2002. Please
